So Nice...............
.......to see pride taken in the care of animals. We too are very thankful for all the animals do for us and enjoy making their lives as comfortable as possible. Clean stalls, fresh water, 2nd cutting hay, minerals and just enough grain to keep them fit "shepards eye".
One thing also, although we are not a wealthy family, we do have a small reserve set aside for animal emergencies. We are not one to go to extremes, but if we can not solve an animal problem we have the vet come. I am always in attendance at birthings, pulled four "kids" this year. I think the vet has been here 3 times in the last 5-6 years. We give what shots are necessary, worm, hoof care etc. ourselves.
I am farmmaid to: horse, pony, 5 sheep (herd to increase in 5 weeks). 17 goats counting 2011 kids, 3 dogs, 3 cats, ducks, rabbits, chickens, guineas, a Jersey calf raising for meat and two piglets later in the year.
A quick note about my GREAT mare. She is 3/4 Arabian and 1/4 Saddlebred. We delivered her 19 years ago, delivered her dam 9 years before that and owned her granddam. A wonderful lady helped me train her when the mare was 4, BUT........since then NO one has ridden her but me!. I trust her with my life when I go camping with her for days. Our relationship is built on trust and RESPECT. I my opinion, animals should be respected for what they contribute to the human race.
Side note, Mark I have your bee books all packaged to mail.........Joan
