Onthebit and Liz, VERY nice looking steaks indeed and shows well what can be done with grass fed stock. I don't know if it was the photography but it's interesting to note how much redder both your steak looked in comparison to mine?

Cheers,
Ronnie

Dexter meat is naturally darker red than other breeds.

Ah, that would be it then. I've had nothing to do with Dexter but believe they make a good duel purpose animal.

Cheers,
Ronnie

Talking Whetting the Appetite

This must be one of the oddest threads going! We're ranging from meat to air fares!

Creamer, $1,168.00 doesn't sound too bad (is that return?) but still one hell of a lot of money if you can only stay a short time. Still, I know people who spend more for less. I guess the difference between the prices quoted by Crash and yourself would depend on where in the States your flying out from.

Bruce, pity you didn't get to spend more time in the north - quite different to the South Island isn't it. When you did the bus tour to 90 Mile did it take your to Te Paki Stream? I lived in Taupo for many years and loved it but it got too cold and too expensive so we decided to come up here and it's been a good move. I hope you get back too but as already discussed, fares don't exactly come cheap and committments at home etc.....

I've looked out some photo's, the scenic ones don't do the area justice but it's hard to take a photo of a beach that is 90 kms long.

This photo is a very small section of 90 Mile Beach which Bruce referred to. It is actually 54 miles long and 90 kms and is on the West Coast. The funny things you can see are actually fishermen and the photo was taken during the Snapper Classic which is the largest fishing contest in the southern hemisphere. Believe it or not there were over 1,000 people on the beach at the time.

This photo is part of Great Exhibition Bay, a beautiful spot and untouched.

Ignore the man holding the fish That is Kevin looking his worst. The fish are what we call Hapuka but are Groper and were caught 20 miles out to sea off 90 Mile Beach. They are beautiful eating.

Kevin again looking his best with a Snapper caught off the East Coast.

I'll stop now before I bore you rigid but there are plenty more if you want to see them.....

Creamer, Crash, Up North and anybody else, for heavens sake let me know when your coming - I'll have to find the vacuum cleaner

Cheers,
Ronnie

haa haa!

Beautiful beaches.

I tell my husband - without fail - when he buys his $1 power ball lottery ticket when he asks what would you do if we won. . ."Move to New Zealand and never come back" - lol! Heck, that has been the answer for years now. haa haa!

Now, time to start looking through couches and chairs for change to get the $1,100 ticket (round trip). . .ROFL
