Your heifer has papers. She has a genetic history recorded with a respected breed association.
As I pointed out, it isn't as big a deal in the Jersey world, with the type of people you would likely sell to.
Our Jersey/Norwegian Red crosses actually have no gaps in their pedigrees. They have genetic history from both sides listed on their pedigrees.
To some, papers simply means papers. The animal has a number with the respected breed registry.
I doubt the people the nuns bought Zoe from misrepresented her and they did not intentionally mispresent Stella either.
Both animals have papers.
But no, the prices you an get for registered Purebred Jerseys is not the exact same as an Identified animal.
However, we charge what the animal is worth. With/without papers doesn't make a difference.
We have a Purebred Jersey heifer coming fresh the end of the month as well as a
PR 15/16 Jersey, 1/16 Norwegian Red heifer coming fresh. They will likely be priced the exact same. Both are promising young animals.
If you were breeding for show, the difference in registration does matter for those who do Open Shows.
