I have *no* fences, and a very drafty barn that hasn't housed livestock in over a dog's age. This place needs a lot of work before I can get a larger animal I'm not putting up fences in -20C, electric or not! LOL I should have mentioned that we only just moved here in November.

How many years ago was it legal to purchase farm milk?
What changed?
Cows? no
Milk? no
Laws? yes

I lived in Germany in 98, they have cows on the ground level, live upstairs, sell milk wholesale (he has a ceramic tiled room with a chiller) (once a week pick up) and sell to the public retail 1 day a week.

I know that some small farmers in my part of canada still sell raw milk labled "Pet Food. Not for human Consumption". But it would depend a lot on if he is a dairy or just a farmer who milks. The only legal way to get raw milk in Canada is to have your own cow. Good luck. I will tell you that the farmers up here who sell 'pet food' labled milk do not take anyone who they do not know personally or who has not been refered to them by a friend. Safer that way!!
