I can see that you really want to show him off at the show. But the dehorning doesn't sound very nice. So now you're stuck.

What about learning the lesson and not going to the show this year? Next year, you'll know what to do about the horns, before they become a problem.

See? The whole thing has been a leaning experience...horns and all.

My vet would discourage dehorning right now because of the flies. Around here they are really nasty right now until after a couple of good frosts.

Here the flies aren't bad at all right now.

But we have a goat show tomorrow night and the state vet will be there so I will ask him what he thinks.

We always dehorned quite a few when they are that size. Never had any trouble, other than a few bleeders from time to time. If you have a vet do it I don't see any problems.
