The reason a calf can handle that much milk is because they drink a little a lot. We have raised several jersey bull calves right along with our Holsteins, they get the same amount. Usually 2 1/2 quarts per feeding, twice a day. We use Kent or Dumor milk replacer, a little goat's milk thrown in. Never had any trouble. I don't think there is a big difference between feeding Holstein and Jersey calves.

Today I got some noromycen for his infected navel, meds for the blood in his stool , (it reappeared this am after clearing up over a week ago) and he's been taken out of his pen and put into another with "clean" ground. He does look and act a smidgen better. By next week I imagine the change will be great.
Thank you everyone for your advice and explainations. I've made notes.
