DNS problems

Was it me or HT?

A couple times today, in the Goat forums, at the top, where there are usually a couple ad banners, I would get one ad banner. Below it I would get a message that stated something to the effect that googleads could not be found. It had something to do with the DNS lookup.

Yes, I copied the message, but both times it happened, my computer stalled on trying to load the pages and I had to shut down the browser, and reboot the computer. So, I lost the copied message to paste.

I'm using a Lenovo S-10, Linux Ubuntu, and Google Chrome.

I knew y'all had been "tweaking" the ads lately so I didn't know if it was due to that, or if it was my computer overheating. I use no a/c, but do keep a small muffin fan behind the laptop to help keep it cool.

If it happens again, maybe I can get a screenshot or do something to save the error message.

It is rare that I have a problem with this forum.

Thanks,
Paul

Hrm....unsure, to be honest. I have to say that I've not seen or experienced that error myself, and haven't heard of others experiencing this error either.

This being said, if you can, please do get a screenshot and post it here, or at least PM it to me. While Chuck controls the ad network for this site, I can easily talk to our host @ any time for site/server/DNS related issues.

PaulNKS,

It might be some left over dead end destination from the FBI turning off the DNSchanger Trojan correction servers a few weeks ago that they were using to keep infected PCs connecting where they were supposed to as they did their 2 year investigation into the European hackers they were tracking and security systems auto-cleaned infected PCs.

As I recall the Trojan was transmitted via redirects on some advertisements however the bandaid fix redirection servers were left in place until all the ISPs and security software had adequate protections in place.

If your ISP and or security software prevented you from accessing the link, your system is probably clean and up to date as the "DNSchanger doomsday blackout" turned out to be pretty much of a internet non event as the Y2k gloom and doom was.

That makes sense.

I wasn't trying to access it. It happened when the system was "loading" the banners... unless we're referring to the same thing?
