Virus or something in General Chat

Just thought I'd let you know that every time I click on GC home page or on any one of the topics in GC I get a warning popping up from my anti-virus thingies about a "dangerous" script in HTML (whatever that means). It only happens in GC, not anywhere else on the board. Sorry, I don't know what it is and don't understand what that message means, I just let my anti-virus programs deal with it. Thought you might want to know since the board has been experiencing some difficulties.

If you have firefox, download noscript. I never have problems with pop-ups, ads, scripts, etc. Best addon in the whole firefox options.

Yeah, I've actually noticed it myself - I didn't get a notification that it was a 'dangerous script' but I did get an attempted popup.

I posted a message to Admin with some details. Norton is picking it up running IE. It happens on Alt Energy too. Not a virus though.

I am not seeing any pop ups even after temporarily bypassing my proxy disabling the pop up blockers etc. The only thing in common with GC and Alt Energy is that they both have the same sponsor. Are they setup to insert ads in these 2 forums?

I believe so....and Kari, I used to be the one that *NEVER* saw popup ads, and I've been here going on 7 years now.

But I finally did see one the other day. If I run across it again I'll note the source.

Somehow their ad also overwrote our paid sponsorship of the two categories that we sponsor. Our paid sponsorship is now being redirected towards them.

I too am now getting a pop up message when I post something. I wrote it down, the pop up message says:

Message from Web Page
This page requires AC_RunActiveContent.js.
OK
